Vice President of Operations

Position Overview: The Vice President of Operations (VPO) is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operations of Life Learning Center. The VPO will work closely with the President/CEO, Board of Directors, and other senior leadership members to implement the organization's mission and strategic vision, ensure efficient resource management, and maintain high-quality program delivery that is consistent with the mission of Life Learning Center and its defined curriculum. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, excellent communicator, and adept at building strong teams to achieve operational excellence.

Life Learning Center is a reputable and impactful non-profit organization dedicated to delivering a holistic, integrated continuum of education and care to help our “at-risk” citizens step up to their highest potential. As we strive to make a difference in the lives of our beneficiaries and communities, we are seeking a dynamic and strategic Vice-President of Operations (VPO) to join our team. The VPO is a full-time, exempt leadership, management and administrative position that will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, ensuring effective program implementation, and fostering organizational growth and sustainability.
Reports to: President/CEO
Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership in all aspects of the organization’s operations, including finance, human resources, program management, information technology and administration. Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance efficiency, compliance, and effectiveness.
- Program Management: Collaborate with program directors and their respective teams to ensure the successful execution of projects and Oversee program evaluation, impact assessment, and reporting to measure effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Financial Management: Work closely with the finance team to develop and age the annual budget, monitor financial performance, and ensure financial sustainability. Make data-driven decisions to optimize resource allocation and ensure transparency and accountability in financial reporting.
- Fundraising and Grants Management: Support fundraising efforts and grant applications to secure funding for the organization’s programs and In collaboration with the Director of Development, cultivate relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders to expand the organization’s network and resource base.
- Organizational Development: Promote a positive and inclusive work culture that encourages professional growth, collaboration, and creativity. Identify talent gaps and implement recruitment, training, and retention strategies to build a skilled and motivated team.
- Risk Management and Compliance: Develop and maintain risk management protocols and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. Mitigate potential risks and proactively address issues to safeguard the organization’s reputation and assets.
- Strategic Planning: Participate in the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic Translate strategic goals into actionable plans and initiatives, tracking progress and adjusting strategies as needed.
- Board of Directors Support: Collaborate with the President/CEO to support the Board of Directors, providing regular updates, reports, and analysis on organizational performance and key metrics.
- External Relations: Represent the organization at public events, conferences, and forums, building relationships with key stakeholders and advocating for the organization’s mission.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Business Administration, Marketing/ Communications, Sociology, Psychology, ). A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Proven experience (10+ years) in senior management positions within the business sector, with a track record of successful operational leadership and program management.
- Strong financial acumen and experience in budget development, financial analysis, and reporting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with staff, donors, partners, volunteers, and other stakeholders including the non-profit community and representatives of corporations, government and educational institutions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Strategic thinker with a data-driven approach to decision-making and a focus on outcomes and impact.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to Life Learning Center.
- Passion for the organization’s mission and commitment to making a positive impact on the community.
